Our client, a prestigious Amlaw 50 firm, is seeking a seasoned Counsel to serve in a high-impact litigation operations leadership role supporting a large, enterprise-scale docket of complex litigation and pre-litigation matters for a major global technology client. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced litigator to function as a chief-of-staff–style leader, overseeing strategy, operations, and innovation across hundreds of coordinated matters.
The role is analogous to serving as coordinating counsel in an MDL or other large-scale litigation portfolio, combining sophisticated legal judgment with operational excellence, process design, and client-facing leadership.
Candidate Profile
- JD from a top-tier law school with an excellent academic record
- Active Bar Admission in applicable jurisdiction, in good standing
- 10+ years of substantive civil litigation experience
- Demonstrated expertise in drafting briefs, motions, and discovery documents, including e-discovery
- Extensive experience litigating complex civil matters, ideally in a large law firm or similarly sophisticated environment
- Demonstrated success managing large litigation dockets with a focus on efficiency, consistency, and cost control
- Strong leadership skills, high EQ, and a client-service mindset with the ability to work independently
- Proven ability to design and implement workflow, process, and operational improvements across legal teams
- Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and proactive deadline management
- Comfort supervising and coordinating teams of attorneys and legal professionals across multiple matters
- Solid proficiency with litigation management platforms, Excel, and legal technology tools
- Experience leveraging data analytics and artificial intelligence tools, including exposure to generative AI, strongly preferred
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple high-stakes projects in a fast-paced environment
- A proactive, client-centered mindset and strong interpersonal skills
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as operational and strategic lead for a large portfolio of litigation and pre-litigation matters for a single institutional client
- Drive and coordinate matter management, budgeting, and resource allocation across the docket
- Develop and evolve docket management strategy as the mix, volume, and complexity of matters change
- Supervise and enhance litigation operations, including docketing, deadline tracking, staffing, and workflow coordination
- Lead innovation initiatives across the docket, including process improvement and creative applications of artificial intelligence
- Manage and improve data collection, reporting, and analytics to deliver actionable insights to internal and client teams
- Supervise a dedicated team of attorneys and non-attorneys supporting litigation operations
- Coordinate closely with attorneys handling substantive aspects of matters to ensure alignment and efficiency
- Act as a key point of contact for direct client interaction and communication with relationship partners
