Cost Accountant

• Maintain accurate cost and inventory valuation in line with financial reporting standards and policies.
• Support profitability analysis and working capital management through proper cost recording and analysis.
• Ensure timely, accurate reporting of sales, cost of sales, and inventory in accordance with GAAP and audit requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and update Bills of Materials (BOMs) in Business Central and related systems, reflecting product changes or new product introductions.
• Calculate and verify standard cost per pound (lbs), including direct and variable production cost components.
• Analyze cost variances between standard and actual costs.
• Ensure accurate inventory valuation; participate in physical and cycle counts and monitor obsolescence reserves.
• Investigate inventory discrepancies, identify root causes, and process system corrections.
• Support annual budgeting through cost forecasting for direct labor, materials, and overhead; monitor actual vs. forecasted costs.
• Develop cost reports and budget plans for production management needs.
• Project profit margins for upcoming periods and analyze margin trends.
• Review month‑end and year‑end financials to recommend cost‑efficiency improvements.
