Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering, or related field or relevant safety experience.
Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or equivalent credential preferred.
Experience:
Minimum 7–10 years of progressive safety management experience in manufacturing, warehousing, or distribution environments.
Experience managing multi-site operations (preferably cross-border U.S./Mexico).
Strong working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and Mexican NOM-STPS regulations.
Experience leading incident investigations, safety audits, and training programs.
Demonstrated success in building or improving a corporate safety management system (SMS).
Skills & Competencies
Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to influence at all organizational levels.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Proficient in MS Office, EHS software systems, and data reporting tools.
Ability to travel up to 40–50% (domestic and international).
Strategic & Program Leadership
Develop, implement, and manage the company’s corporate safety program across U.S. and Mexico locations.
Align safety programs with OSHA, EPA, and Mexican NOM requirements, as well as corporate objectives.
Establish measurable safety performance metrics and lead monthly reviews with plant managers and leadership.
Serve as the company’s subject matter expert on EHS regulations, risk assessments, and compliance requirements.
Lead the implementation of corporate safety policies, including Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space, Hazard Communication, Electrical Safety, Machine Guarding, and Contractor Safety.
Compliance & Auditing
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations (e.g., OSHA 29 CFR 1910/1926, EPA hazardous waste rules, DOT, and Mexican NOMs).
Develop and conduct internal EHS audits of all facilities; drive corrective and preventive actions.
Maintain required records, permits, and reports (OSHA 300 logs, environmental filings, training documentation).
Manage and coordinate with external regulatory agencies during inspections or audits.
Training & Communication
Develop and deliver EHS training programs in English and Spanish (or coordinate bilingual delivery).
Oversee safety orientation for new hires, refresher training, and specialized certification (e.g., forklift, confined space, LOTO).
Promote a strong safety culture through communication, engagement, and recognition programs.
Provide technical guidance and support to local safety coordinators, supervisors, and managers.
Incident Prevention & Response
Lead incident investigations using root cause analysis and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
Oversee emergency preparedness programs, including fire prevention, evacuation plans, and spill response.
Manage corporate-level incident reporting and trend analysis to identify recurring risks.
Coordinate with HR and operations on workers’ compensation and return-to-work processes.
Leadership & Collaboration
Serve as liaison between corporate leadership and site-level safety teams.
Provide direct support to site Safety Coordinators or EHS Representatives at each location.
Support the integration of safety into new equipment design, process changes, and capital projects.
Collaborate with Maintenance, Engineering, and Quality teams on risk assessments and management-of-change reviews.
The Corporate Safety Manager provides strategic leadership and technical expertise to ensure compliance with all applicable safety, health, and environmental regulations across manufacturing and warehouse operations in the United States and Mexico. This role develops, implements, and continuously improves company-wide safety systems, policies, and training to drive a proactive safety culture and ensure regulatory compliance.
The position partners closely with plant leadership, HR, maintenance, and operations teams to standardize EHS practices, reduce risk, and ensure consistent implementation of corporate safety standards.
