Responsibilities:

  • Create the new Prism entry level electrician apprentice course including a detailed course curriculum, course outline, PowerPoints, class activities, homework assignments, training activities, pre-course test, post-course test, recommended books and follow-up jobsite visit verification of learning checklist.
  • Follow-up with jobsite visits and productivity evaluations to ensure the employee can complete the items taught in the class on the jobsite. The Corporate Trainer will teach these classes.
  • Review current course curriculum. All curriculum is outdated and needs to be reviewed, updated to current electrical specific and electrical related material.
  • Redesign, organize and retype learning objectives with all items listed above.
  • Course syllabus and course outline.
  • Class PowerPoints.
  • Class activities and exercises (15+) with an answer key for each.
  • Homework assignments and answer key.
  • Class training activities.
  • Pre-course test and answer key.
  • Post-course test and answer key.
  • Recommended books for each class.
  • Acknowledgment learning verification checklist for jobsite visits after course is complete.
  • Create a training program that best fit the business unit(s).
  • Gather information and knowledge of subject matter experts (SME) to create and develop the course curriculum.
  • Organize information from SME into training modules.
  • Teach SME on the best way to engage, motivate, and teach in a classroom setting.
  • Prepare SMEs prior to each class to assure that time management is acceptable.
  • Attend every training course and give constructive feedback for improvements to presentation and delivery methods.
  • Administer class surveys and track for every class during each training course.
  • Keep all training and class teaching material and PowerPoint updated according to the Prism SOP.
  • Monitor enrollment of apprentices into accredited programs at time of hiring. Follow up with new hires to make sure they enroll in the first available semester in the apprenticeship school.
  • Monitor apprentice grades and attendance, keeping supervisors aware of the performance of students. Hold supervisors accountable to turn in documentation when required.
  • Liaison to all apprentices on anything to do with their schooling including quarterly evaluations, grade review and identify who needs additional tutoring and help arrange this with a supervisor.
