Controls Technician

An automation system manufacturer based out of Memphis, TN is seeking a new Lead Electrical Controls Technician (Level IV) to join their panel fabrication team. The ideal candidate will have several years of prior experience with control panel fabrication and industrial assembly, with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineering teams to contribute during the design process.

This is a full-time and direct hire position operating on a 4x10 schedule (4 day work week, 10 hour day shift). Benefits include health/dental/vision/life insurances, PTO, and 401k plan with matching. Compensation ranges between $27 - 32 / hour, depending on level of experience.

Electrical Controls Technician Responsibilities:

• Assemble and install electrical components for PLC / control systems, assisting with design as needed
• Install electrical components for control panels, including switches, motors, cables, and conduit
• Perform precise drilling and layout procedures
• Wiring for OP/stations and control panels
• Perform I/O troubleshooting, motor control and start up testing
• Maintain safety standards and a clean workstation
• Assist in development and training for newer personnel, with the ability to lead other technicians when other leads are out

Electrical Controls Technician Requirements:

• High school diploma / GED
• Electrical coursework or equivalent work experience, including knowledge of electrical control theory
• At least four (4) years prior experience with fabrication and industrial controls wiring
• Ability to travel occasionally as required (<25%)
• Ability to read mechanical blueprints and electrical schematics, read tape measures, perform mathematical calculations, and use standard tools of the trade
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• This position is in a manufacturing work environment. While performing the duties of this job you may be required to intermittently sit, stand, walk, lift up to 25 pounds, lift in excess of 25 pounds with a lift assist, climb stairs, use hands to handle or feel parts/equipment, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend at the waist, talk and hear. You may also be required to use close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision.
