Job Summary:
Paramont Manufacturing is seeking a hands-on Controls Engineer to support and improve plant-wide automation systems in a high-volume manufacturing environment. This role offers the opportunity to work directly with PLCs, robotics (including FANUC), and advanced paint systems while leading troubleshooting, equipment upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex production challenges, working on the floor, and making a direct impact on uptime, efficiency, and system performance.

Position Responsibilities Include
• Own and standardize PLC programming, HMI/SCADA systems, and plant-wide automation architecture
• Lead troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions for critical line-down and uptime-impacting events
• Oversee commissioning, startup, and validation of new automation systems and capital equipment
• Manage relationships with OEMs, system integrators, and automation/controls vendors
• Develop and execute long-term automation and controls strategies aligned with production and business goals.
• Program, optimize, and maintain FANUC paint robotics and paint line control systems
• Provide engineering oversight and support for pretreatment, E-coat, paint booths, ovens, material delivery, and environmental systems
• Drive improvements in quality, process stability, throughput, and regulatory compliance within paint operations
• Lead capital planning, justification, and execution of automation and controls upgrades
• Reduce scrap, downtime, and operating costs through continuous improvement initiatives
• Support plant launches, model changes, and major process modifications
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards, including OSHA, NFPA, and industrial control system requirements
• Provide occasional off-hours support for critical production needs
• Other duties as assigned to support engineering and organizational objectives
Requirements
Education & Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related field required
• 5 - 7+ years of experience in industrial automation or complex manufacturing environments
• Strong PLC programming and troubleshooting experience (Allen-Bradley, Omron, or similar platforms)
• Proven experience with robotics automation; paint systems experience strongly preferred
• Demonstrated leadership experience or ownership of major engineering projects
Skills & Abilities:
• Ability to support a 24/7 manufacturing operation, including on-call responsibilities
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and root cause analysis skills
• Experience with HMI/SCADA development and industrial networking
• Working knowledge of motion control, vision systems, and safety PLCs
• Understanding of applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory standards
• Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• High level of accountability, attention to detail, and commitment to safety and compliance
Compensation & Benefits
· Salary Pay: $70,000-100,000/ year (based on experience)
