Job Details

What You’ll Do
As a Controls Engineer, you’ll lead and execute moderate to highly complex automation and electrical engineering projects, ranging from new equipment design to large-scale process improvements. Your work will directly support production innovation, capacity expansion, and new product initiatives.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Leading cross-functional project teams to deliver automated machine and system designs that meet safety, sanitary, ergonomic, cost, and reliability standards
  • Designing and implementing electrical and controls solutions using industry-standard tools and platforms
  • Overseeing contractors and technical resources to ensure projects are delivered on time and to specification
  • Ensuring seamless handoff of completed projects through documentation, training, and operational readiness
  • Ensuring compliance with all regulatory, legal, and internal engineering requirements
  • Mentoring and developing technicians, programmers, and engineers
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives that enhance engineering efficiency and effectiveness

What You Bring
Required Qualifications
  • Strong experience with electrical and controls engineering tools (e.g., Rockwell Automation platforms, AutoCAD)
  • Proven ability to lead projects in collaborative, cross-functional environments
  • Solid understanding of project management best practices
  • Demonstrated initiative, creativity, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication, organization, and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • CMRP certification (or ability to obtain within 18 months)
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship needs

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field
  • Experience in machine controls, automation, or equipment development—ideally within food or consumer packaged goods manufacturing
  • Hands-on experience with PLC/PAC programming, HMI development, multi-axis servo motion control, and machine vision systems
  • Prior people leadership or direct supervisory experience
