Overview

A growing engineering consulting firm is seeking a Controller to lead financial operations, strengthen accounting processes, and partner closely with technical and project‑based teams. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a professional services environment where accuracy, client-driven work, and strong financial controls are essential. The Controller will oversee daily and monthly accounting activities, provide financial insight to leadership, and help optimize systems and processes as the organization scales.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the month‑end and year‑end close process, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting.
• Oversee general ledger management, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
• Manage project accounting, including job costing, revenue recognition, and tracking project profitability.
• Prepare financial statements, internal reporting packages, and variance analysis for leadership.
• Oversee billing, accounts payable, and accounts receivable to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
• Partner with engineering and project managers to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
• Maintain strong internal controls and support compliance and audit activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelors in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred
• 3+ years of leadership/team management
• Preferable experience within engineering, architecture, construction, or other project‑based professional services.
• Prior controller or assistant controller experience strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of project accounting, job costing, and revenue recognition.

Salary: $130,000 to $160,000
