Accentuate Staffing is seeking a Controller for our well-established client in Raleigh, NC 27616.  The Controller will manage the company’s financial operations, including overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management and payroll functions. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to manage multiple aspects of financial operations in a growing small to mid-sized company. Responsibilities:

  1. Accounts Payable (AP) Management:
  • Oversee the full accounts payable process, ensuring accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices.
  • Ensure payments are made according to vendor terms and track outstanding liabilities.
  • Maintain and reconcile AP ledgers, managing discrepancies and resolving issues with vendors.
  • Develop and enforce controls to prevent duplicate payments and ensure proper approval for disbursements.
  • Ensure timely filing of tax forms (e.g., 1099s) and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
  1. Accounts Receivable (AR) Management:
  • Oversee the accounts receivable function, ensuring accurate and timely invoicing to customers.
  • Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up on overdue accounts to ensure collection targets are met.
  • Implement and maintain credit policies to minimize risk and ensure timely payments.
  • Prepare aging reports and assess the quality of receivables.
  • Work closely with the sales team to resolve any billing or customer service issues that impact payments.
  1. Cash Management:
  • Monitor daily cash flow and ensure sufficient liquidity for day-to-day operations.
  • Develop cash flow forecasts and manage banking relationships, including overseeing the company’s bank accounts and credit facilities.
  • Oversee daily cash transactions and ensure that funds are properly allocated for business needs.
  • Analyze cash positions, optimize working capital, and recommend changes to improve cash flow.
  • Review and approve large or critical payments to ensure alignment with company goals.
  1. Human Resources (HR) Oversight:
  • Assist in maintaining employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other compensation-related matters.
  • Support onboarding processes by managing the financial side (e.g., offer letters, salary negotiations, compensation packages).
  • Maintain confidential records of employee data.

  Payroll Management:

  • Oversee the preparation of bi-monthly payroll via 3rd party payroll provider
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations related to payroll.
  • Manage payroll deductions, including taxes, benefits, and retirement contributions.
  • Reconcile payroll-related accounts and ensure that payroll expenses are accurately reflected in the company’s financial statements.
  • Prepare reports and filings related to payroll taxes, including quarterly and year-end filings (e.g., 941, W-2, state forms).

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review financial statements, reports, and forecasts to support decision-making by senior management.
  • Ensure the company complies with relevant tax laws and regulatory requirements.
  • Supervise and mentor junior accounting and HR staff, providing training and guidance.
  • Develop and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.
  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes, helping to ensure alignment with company objectives.
  • Manage year-end audits and liaise with external auditors as necessary.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Experience: 7+ years of experience in accounting and financial management. Experience managing AP, AR, payroll/HR functions strongly preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
    • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
    • Knowledge of payroll processing.
    • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
