Responsibilities of the Controller

  • Guide, develop, and mentor a strong accounting team to ensure accuracy and excellence in all daily financial operations
  • Oversee financial compliance across grants, federal funding, and nonprofit regulatory requirements
  • Serve as a trusted strategic partner to the CFO, driving system improvements, workflow enhancements, and financial modernization initiatives
  • Manage annual audit activities and stay ahead of evolving reporting standards and regulatory expectations
  • Strengthen internal controls and support the organization’s growth through strong financial stewardship

Qualifications of the Controller

  • CPA required
  • At least 5 years of progressive accounting and finance leadership experience
  • Experience working with grants and federal funding
  • Strong ERP systems experience, including system implementation or optimization projects
  • A collaborative approach, strong technical foundation, and the desire to elevate processes and people
