Controller – St. Joseph, MI

Location: St. Joseph, Michigan
Schedule: Onsite | Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Salary: $95,000–$115,000 annually (based on experience)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Controller to join a growing organization in Niles, Michigan. The Controller will oversee daily accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls while partnering closely with leadership to ensure financial accuracy and stability.

This Controller role requires a hands-on accounting leader who can manage the general ledger, drive month-end close, and maintain strong compliance practices. The ideal Controller will be detail-oriented, process-driven, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities of the Controller

  • Oversee general ledger, journal entries, and account reconciliations

  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes

  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements

  • Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll oversight

  • Maintain strong internal controls and ensure GAAP compliance

  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes

  • Coordinate with external auditors and support annual audit

  • Monitor cash flow and support financial planning initiatives

Qualifications for the Controller

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience

  • Prior experience as a Senior Accountant, Accounting Manager, or Controller

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards

  • Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills

  • Proven ability to manage deadlines and improve processes
