Job Details
The Controller is responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial reporting functions for the organization. This role ensures the integrity of financial information, compliance with healthcare regulatory requirements, and the development of strong internal controls. The Controller will manage the day-to-day accounting operations while providing strategic financial insights to support operational and organizational growth.
The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting expertise, healthcare industry experience, and a hands-on leadership approach.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
Oversee all accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes
Develop and maintain financial reporting packages for executive leadership and board reporting
Monitor cash flow and liquidity to ensure operational stability
Regulatory & Compliance
Ensure compliance with GAAP and healthcare-specific regulatory requirements
Oversee preparation of Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party payer reporting (if applicable)
Coordinate and manage annual audits and cost reports
Maintain and strengthen internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure financial integrity
Budgeting & Forecasting
Lead the annual budgeting process
Develop financial forecasts and variance analyses
Partner with department leaders to monitor financial performance and improve cost management
Provide actionable insights to support strategic decision-making
Leadership & Process Improvement
Manage and mentor accounting staff
Evaluate and improve accounting systems, processes, and workflows
Support implementation or optimization of ERP or healthcare billing systems
Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, clinical leadership, HR, and revenue cycle teams
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
5–10+ years of progressive accounting experience
3+ years in a leadership or supervisory role
Healthcare industry experience (hospital, multi-site practice, ASC, behavioral health, senior care, or related)
Strong knowledge of GAAP and healthcare reimbursement models
Experience with audits and financial statement preparation
Preferred
CPA designation strongly preferred
Experience with healthcare billing systems and EMR integrations
Experience with multi-entity or multi-location organizations
ERP system experience
