Overview for Controller:
Our client, a respected organization in the healthcare sector, is seeking a seasoned Controller to lead a critical transition within their accounting operations. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who thrives where legacy systems meet modern solutions. The Controller will be instrumental in building foundational processes, mentoring staff, and driving operational efficiency.
Healthcare experience is required for this role.
Key Responsibilities of Controller:
- Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across all accounting functions
- Drive efficiencies through process documentation and workflow improvements
- Provide employee support, training, and guidance as roles evolve
- Review and mentor the Senior Accountant and support daily accounting operations
- Oversee month-end close, recurring journal entries, and general ledger clean-up
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and ensure accuracy in revenue and AR tracking
- Present financial insights and recommendations to organizational leadership
- Manage cash entries and ensure proper documentation and controls
Minimum Requirements of Controller:
- Healthcare accounting experience required
- Independent thinker with strong decision-making skills
- Analytical mindset with the ability to identify discrepancies
- Proficiency in Sage Intacct (cloud-based)
- Progressive accounting experience with strong general ledger knowledge
- Advanced Excel skills—SUMIFS, INDEX MATCH, LOOKUPS
Preferred Qualifications for Controller:
- Experience with general ledger and chart of accounts clean-up
- Strong functional curiosity—asks “why?” and “what are we doing with this?”
