Job Details

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Controller to lead our accounting function. This is a highly accounting-focused role (not FP&A/finance-heavy) and will be responsible for owning the close process, managing cash operations, and ensuring accurate financial reporting.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and is excited to roll up their sleeves, build processes, and lead a team through growth—including the company’s first audit.

Key Responsibilities
Own the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and continuous improvement
Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including:
Cash management (POS/payment processing, AP payments, bank reconciliations)
Accounts payable and general ledger activities
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Lead inventory and COGS accounting, ensuring accuracy across a large SKU environment
Establish and enhance accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
Manage and mentor the accounting team (minimum 3+ years of people management required)
Coordinate external audit processes and lead the company through its first audit
Partner with external firms on tax compliance and filings
Identify opportunities to improve systems, automate processes, and scale operations
Collaborate cross-functionally with operations and leadership to support business growth

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (CPA strongly preferred)
6–10+ years of progressive accounting experience
Strong accounting background with a focus on operational accounting (not finance/FP&A)

Experience with inventory and COGS accounting, preferably in:
Retail
Consumer products
eCommerce
High-SKU environments
3+ years of experience managing a team and owning the close process
Experience preparing for or leading an audit (first-time audit experience is a plus)
Strong understanding of cash flows, reconciliations, and payment processes
Experience working in a startup or high-growth environment preferred
Systems-savvy with a mindset toward process improvement and automation

What We’re Looking For
Hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves mentality
Strong ownership mindset with the ability to build and improve processes
Comfortable operating in ambiguity and scaling environments
Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and accountability
A proactive leader who can both execute and mentor a growing team
