The organization is backed by a leading private equity partner and is rapidly scaling through acquisitions in the United States and internationally. This environment provides a unique opportunity for finance leaders who thrive in transformational, mission-driven settings.

Role Summary
The Controller will serve as a key financial leader responsible for elevating the accounting function, integrating acquired companies, and supporting a multi-entity, private equity-backed structure. This role oversees daily accounting operations, ensures financial accuracy, and builds scalable processes as the organization continues to expand.
You will partner closely with the CFO to standardize policies, strengthen internal controls, and develop a shared services accounting model that can support rapid growth and increasing operational complexity.

This position offers significant influence, leadership responsibility, and the opportunity to build an accounting organization in a first-of-its-kind education roll-up.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations across multiple entities including general ledger, AP, AR, payroll, and consolidated reporting
  • Lead a shared services accounting model and ensure scalable processes for an acquisitive organization
  • Standardize accounting policies, procedures, and systems across acquired brands
  • Manage timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close cycles
  • Oversee intercompany transactions, consolidations, and eliminations
  • Drive integration of acquired companies including revenue recognition alignment, system onboarding, and internal control development
  • Maintain strong compliance with GAAP and ensure audit readiness across all entities
  • Manage external audits and coordinate with tax advisors, financial partners, and private equity stakeholders
  • Hire, develop, and lead accounting team members while promoting a high-performance culture
  • Improve accounting systems and processes including ERP optimization and automation
  • Partner cross-functionally with FP&A, Operations, HR, and M&A teams
  • Oversee Treasury activities including cash tracking and banking coordination

Key Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred
  • Six or more years of progressive accounting experience including at least three years in a Controller or Assistant Controller role
  • Experience working within a private equity-backed environment with a roll-up strategy
  • Strong M&A integration experience and ability to consolidate multi-entity structures
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, deferred revenue, revenue recognition (ASC 606), and consolidations
  • Experience building or scaling a shared services finance function
  • Advanced proficiency with ERP systems such as NetSuite or Sage Intacct
  • Strong technical accounting and systems aptitude
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with evolving processes

Preferred Skills
  • Experience with Sage integrated into proprietary systems
  • Treasury experience including cash management and client cash applications
  • Background supporting recurring revenue models and contract-based revenue streams
  • Experience in education, services, or multi-location operating environments

Why This Opportunity
  • High-impact role with direct partnership to the CFO
  • Opportunity to modernize the accounting function and build scalable processes
  • Leadership responsibility in a rapidly growing private equity-backed organization
  • Significant involvement in acquisitions, integrations, and strategic initiatives
  • Mission-driven company with a strong culture and national expansion trajectory
