Our client, a specialized manufacturing firm supporting the U.S. Navy Submarine Industrial Base, is seeking a Contracts & Technical Engineering Manager to join their team. As a Contracts & Technical Engineering Manager, you will be part of the engineering and manufacturing support team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving, which will align successfully in the organization.
Job Title: Contracts & Technical Engineering Manager
What's the Job?
- Review, interpret, and negotiate prime contracts and subcontracts to ensure compliance with FAR, DFARS, and NAVSEA standards.
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for Government Contracting Officers and Prime Contractors regarding Statement of Work (SOW) clarity and scope.
- Identify contractual risks early in the bidding process and ensure all quality, safety, and submarine material requirements are integrated into project plans.
- Design and implement robust shop floor processes for CNC machining and complex mechanical assembly to ensure quality and repeatability.
- Lead a small team of engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical rigor.
What's Needed?
- Minimum 5-8 years of experience in defense manufacturing, with at least 5 years specifically within Navy Submarine Building.
- Deep familiarity with NAVSEA Standard Items and the federal acquisition process.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Marine Engineering.
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM software and understanding of tight-tolerance machining for rugged materials.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen capable of obtaining a Secret Security Clearance.
