Kitsap County is seeking a detail-oriented Contract Specialist to join the Salish Behavioral Health Administrative Services Organization (SBHASO) division of Human Services.  As the primary administrative support for multiple professional and managerial-level staff, you will be integral to ensuring the smooth operation of contracts and grants management, all while contributing to the delivery of critical health services across a 3-County region including Clallam, Jefferson, and Kitsap Counties.

This is a dynamic role that allows you to demonstrate your administrative skills in supporting office administration within a fast-paced environment. You will have the chance to make a real difference by supporting a diverse and mission-driven department that processes more than 50 contracts annually. If you’re looking for a role that blends office administration expertise with a profound social service impact, this is your opportunity.

As the Contract Specialist, you will:

  • Support contract management: Ensure the timely preparation, routing, and submission of all departmental contracts for approval to the County signature authority. Track and monitor all changes, amendments, and updates throughout the process.
  • Coordinate contract workflows: Manage the entire lifecycle of contracts, from submission through eContracts, vendor signatures, and final approval by required County authorities, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Records management: Lead internal records management efforts, including maintaining records retention schedules, sorting documents, and reorganizing SharePoint to improve efficiency and accessibility.
  • Provide administrative support: Assist with the preparation of monthly advisory board meetings, community networking events, and annual conferences, offering backup support for agency-sponsored groups and activities as needed. Ensure seamless coordination of mail pick-up and delivery, supporting the day-to-day operations of the department.
What you bring:

Professional Experience

  • 2 years of progressively responsible administrative support experience. Related education demonstrating required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job may substitute for up to six months of experience.

Technical Background:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, SharePoint) with intermediate to advanced expertise, particularly in Excel and spreadsheet management.
  • Strong attention to detail in proofreading and editing documents, ensuring consistency, correctness, and clarity in contracts, reports, and communications. This includes reviewing documents for grammar, punctuation, formatting, and compliance with organizational standards.

Communication/Organizational Skills:

  • Clear and concise communication, both written and verbal, ensuring timely and professional responses to internal and external inquiries.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service, handling contractor and vendor communications.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage tasks with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3 or more years progressively responsible administrative support experience.
  • Experience working with behavioral health documents
  • Experience working with contract management systems or similar tools.
  • Knowledge of government contract processes, including routing, tracking, and submission for approval.
  • Familiarity with county policies and public sector compliance.
  • Experience in providing customer service to subcontractors
