Job Summary

The Construction Project Lead oversees the scheduling, coordination, review, and approval of all Architectural and Engineering (A&E) construction documents for new store projects. This role ensures all documentation maintains the integrity of company Specifications Manuals and design standards, supporting large-scale retail construction and expansion initiatives.


Key Responsibilities

• Receive, manage, and distribute A&E drawing submittals to external consultants for review
• Ensure reviews are completed accurately and on schedule; manage and train external review consultants
• Create and distribute review reminders and documentation to support timely approvals
• Manage outside consultants for REH site surveys and HVAC M1 plans; review pricing and invoices
• Act as liaison between landlords, developers, architects, engineers, general contractors, vendors, and internal teams
• Respond to daily inquiries from architects, engineers, vendors, project managers, and leadership
• Interface with landlords and developers to resolve A&E review issues; lead coordination meetings as needed
• Schedule, review, and distribute project site survey packages
• Maintain and annually update Specifications Manuals and MEP sample sets
• Partner with Store Planning on criteria drawings and specification details
• Review preliminary and final plans for miscellaneous and special projects
• Support store remodels, expansions, pre-planning, and buying office projects
• Assist in execution of construction for new and expansion stores supporting an annual capital budget exceeding $200M
• Evaluate atypical site conditions and support internal Construction and Store Planning teams
• Recommend corrections to criteria sets to improve clarity and usability for A&E firms
• Supervise and schedule project reviewers; make technical decisions as required
• Investigate and recommend alternate materials and specifications
• Keep construction project managers informed of specification and MEP updates
• Advise architects, engineers, and contractors on company requirements and monitor conformance


Required Skills & Qualifications

Education:
• Associate’s degree in Business, Construction Management, or related field
• Additional technical education in Architecture, Engineering, Construction, Estimating, or Project Management, or equivalent work experience

Experience:
• Minimum 5 years of experience in one or more of the following:
– Engineering or Architecture
– Store Design or Store Planning/Drafting
– Construction Superintendent or Project Management
– General Construction or Retail Construction

Technical & Professional Skills:
• Extensive knowledge of general construction and retail store planning
• Strong understanding of store layouts, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing specifications
• Solid background in plan preparation and retail construction methods
• Proficiency with Outlook, Excel, Bluebeam, Adobe, and Lucernex
• Strong coordination, communication, and stakeholder management skills
