Description:
Responsible for coordinating and managing construction work performed by contractors and/or vendors at the project site.
Responsible to assess productivity, schedule compliance, work quality, and safety performance on the project.
Responsible to manage walk downs of planned work, validate acceptance of completed work to design requirements, approve contractor payment requests, verify constructability, ensure proper resource allocations, assess field status, and resolve issues as needed.
Responsible for scope control, budget oversight, performance reporting, schedules, and work in progress to ensure Construction Supervisors are effectively implementing their assignments and obtaining the desired results. Provides leadership and coaching to Construction Supervisors and supplemental workforce, communicating departmental, station, and division goals and validating each performer s ability to impact those goals.
Acts as a critical bridge between field operations and customer leadership, ensuring construction crews and project stakeholders remain aligned.
Addresses logistical challenges, resolves conflicts, and ensures construction activities stay on track.
Survey and observe contractor Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) practices; providecoaching, direction and corrective action as needed

Education: Associate degree or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Power Generation, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Relevant Experience:
15+ years of experience in power plant commissioning, working with EPC Contractors, engineering firms, and equipment suppliers

. Responsibilities:
- Define strategic commissioning frameworks and corporate-wide standards.
- Manage enterprise-level commissioning projects and regulatory compliance.
- Oversee long-term planning and high-value contractual agreements.
- Act as a key advisor for executive leadership on commissioning and operations strategy.
- Drive innovation and process optimization across multiple project sites.

Other: Strong understanding of engineering principles related to power plant commissioning.

Construction Manager Scope of Work

The Construction Manager is responsible for overseeing the on-site construction of utility-scale solar projects from Notice-to-Proceed to Commercial Operation Date. They are the NextEra/FPL representative and main point-of-contact for EPC contractors, as well as responsible for oversight of the execution of the construction work and ensuring contractors are maintaining contractual obligations specifically in terms of safety, quality, schedule, and budget.

Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Review agreements, contracts and permits to verify requirements are being met, as well as compliance with building, environmental, and safety standards.
  • Coordinate with development to ensure pending tasks are closed out at execution turn-over.
  • Verify scheduling, delivery and inventory of owner supplied materials through review of reporting in Unifier and provided by site receiver.
  • Attend EPC Contractor Plan-of-Day meetings to review previous day and current planned activities.
  • Ensure quality construction standards and the use of proper construction techniques per the EPC contract.
  • Conduct site audits and participate in tailboards/safety all-hands meetings with EPC to assure site safety plan is being followed and relay safety updates from NextEra/FPL.
  • Ensure NextEra/FPL site team has reviewed and understand agreements, contracts, and permits applicable to their scope of work.
  • Meet with NextEra/FPL site team for updates on site activity and join team on tasks as schedule allows.
  • Verify QAQC reports submitted in Unifier by NextEra/FPL site team, as well as document upload and reporting.
  • Interface with the utility and project off-taker(s) on-site.
  • Provide updates pertaining to project status and construction progress, as well as review and approval of construction status update(weekly), and incident reports submitted by EPC.
  • Review and approve requests for information (RFI) after submittal, and follow-up with pending, or open RFI's.
  • Review and approval of scope deviation notices (SDN) for escalation to project manager.
  • Review and coordinate with project manager on project forecast and risk tracker changes.
  • Support scheduling and coordination of project commissioning and close-out activities, with support from the EPC partner.
  • Review of Job Book documentation and mechanical completion guarantees to ensure compliance before signing completion certificates.
  • Support business management, finance, and off-taker/3 rd party engineering close out with documentation and as-built follow-up.
  • Assist in the hand-off of project to the Power Generation Group at COD.

Additional Responsibilities.


In addition to these tasks, the Construction Manager is responsible for training and development of the NextEra/FPL site team reporting to them, with support from the Project manager and Subject Matter Coaches. Cross-training disciplines, inclusion of team on meetings and updates, and joining the teams in their daily tasks will help in the team's growth and success of the project.
