Construction Bookkeeper / Accounting Manager
Salary: $50,000–$80,000 annually

TemPositions is pleased to partner with a well-established HVAC and mechanical contracting firm serving commercial and residential clientsacross New York City. This growing company is seeking a Construction Bookkeeper / Accounting Manager to oversee day-to-day accounting operations and support project financial management.
This role is ideal for someone with construction accounting experience who enjoys owning the books, staying organized, and supporting both field and office teams.
What You’ll Do:
Manage full-cycle bookkeeping, including Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
Process payroll, including certified payroll and payroll taxes
Prepare and submit AIA requisitions and change orders
Track job costs, budgets, WIP reports, and project financials
Handle billing, invoicing, and systems implementation
Manage company credit cards, check writing, and reconciliations
Maintain vendor accounts, resolve discrepancies, and manage supply purchases
Organize all company bills, records, and tax documentation
Communicate with owners and clients regarding accounting questions
Support light HR functions and assist with daily business operations
Ensure all transactions are properly recorded and compliant
What We’re Looking For:
Experience in construction or mechanical industry accounting
Strong knowledge of QuickBooks
Hands-on experience with AIA billing and certified payroll
Solid understanding of job costing, WIP reporting, and project accounting
Experience with AP, AR, payroll taxes, and construction insurance
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and reliable
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and SharePoint
