Objectives of this Role:
  • Serve in a software developer/technical role on teams developing software solution in technology areas such as Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and Data Exchange Systems.
  • Participate in internally funded, research and development programs. Bring your ideas to life as proof of concept, and integrate it into production systems.
  • Design and code, often for complex solutions, products that directly affect the lives and actions of the traveling public.
  • Save lives, reduce emissions, and make the roadways safer.

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:
  • Undertake tasks working in coordination with the project manager, other team members, and management.
  • Perform advanced programming tasks for the maintenance and enhancement of one or more software systems.
  • Perform in all phases of the development lifecycle, including requirements definition, software/systems design, implementation, testing, integration, and system support.
  • Maintain a high level of code quality by writing unit tests, participating in code reviews, and debugging software modules.
  • Implement code using concepts of user interface design patterns, object oriented design, refactoring, test automation, continuous integration/deployment, networking, concurrency, modeling, and database design.
Requirements:
  • Requires a Bachelors degree in Computer Science, or related with directly related industry experience.
  • 0-5 years: Experience working with C# and Python, and must have worked on SQL, Docker, Kafka, Kubernetes, AWS tools, or React.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills, ability to work both individually and as a member of a team. Must be able to lead tasks and be able to mentor other developers.
  • Must have an emphasis on software development, systems engineering, experience with object-oriented programming, and technical/project leadership experience.
  • A valid/clear driver's license is required.

  • Center for Nuclear Waste Regulatory Analyses-Resolving technical and regulatory issues related to a potential geologic repository for spent nuclear fule and high-level radioactive waste.
  • Chemistry and Chemical Engineering-Performing research and technical services using chemistry and chemical engineering technology.
  • Defense and & Intelligence Solutions-Providing advanced direction finding and tracking systems through geolocation system development.
  • Fuels and Lubricants Research-Performing fuels and lubricants research activities to meet regulatory and competitive goals.
  • Intelligent Systems-Providing engineering services in resaerch and development of complex systems and equipment.
  • Mechanical Engineering-Improving safety, reliability, efficiency and life of new or existing mechanical components or systems.
  • Powertrain Engineering-Designing and developing vehicle and engine components to achieve performance and emissions goals.
  • Space Science & Engineering-Developing and managing advanced scientific payloads aboard satellites and sounding rockets.
