Commercial Loan Underwriter

The Commercial Loan Underwriter is responsible for the specific duties listed below.
Your specific duties will include:
- Prepare and review financial spreads and cash flow analysis' to ascertain the viability of incoming loan requests and/or the ongoing viability of existing loans.
- Prepare or assist in the preparation of concise, well-reasoned credit memorandums – both for new requests, as well as renewals and annual reviews.
- Assist with the monitoring of the existing loan portfolio through report preparation and maintenance; provide recommendations and support for any upgrades/downgrades to risk ratings.
- Work with the VP Credit Administration Officer to facilitate various ad hoc projects related to loan and credit risk management.
- Assist with the presentation of loan requests to the respective committees for approval.
- Ensure compliance with established credit policies and procedures.
- Work with all members of the deal team to foster a smooth transition of loans through the due diligence and underwriting portions of the pipeline.
- Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent.
- Strong analytical and/or underwriting acumen.
- Highly developed communication skills – including the ability to write clear and concise credit correspondence.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting or Economics.
- At least 2 years of experience in commercial credit underwriting.
- Strong focus on commercial real estate lending – including Bridge Finance, Term Loans, etc.
- Prior lending experience a plus.
- Formal credit training.
