Job Details
The Commercial Lines Producer is responsible for generating new business revenue through the sale of commercial insurance products and services. This role focuses on prospecting, developing client relationships, assessing risk exposures, and delivering tailored insurance solutions that meet the needs of businesses across a variety of industries. The Producer plays a key role in driving agency growth while maintaining high professional standards and a client-first approach.
Primary Responsibilities
Prospect, develop, and cultivate new commercial insurance clients through networking, referrals, cold calling, and community involvement
Generate consistent new business revenue by meeting or exceeding established sales goals
Conduct thorough client risk assessments to identify exposures and coverage needs
Prepare and present insurance proposals to business owners and decision-makers
Explain complex commercial coverages including General Liability, Property, Workers’ Compensation, Commercial Auto, Professional Liability, Cyber, Umbrella, and industry-specific policies
Negotiate with insurance carriers and wholesalers to secure competitive terms and pricing
Collaborate with Commercial Lines Account Managers and Underwriters to ensure accurate submissions and smooth onboarding
Maintain detailed and organized activity records within the agency management system (CRM)
Attend client meetings, industry events, and trade association functions to build a strong pipeline
Cross-sell additional lines of coverage to existing clients
Assist clients with coverage reviews, renewals, and policy changes when needed
Provide a high level of professionalism, ethics, and customer service at all times
Business Development Duties
Develop and maintain a strategic sales plan targeting key industries and revenue opportunities
Build relationships with centers of influence such as CPAs, attorneys, real estate professionals, and industry groups
Create long-term partnerships that promote retention and recurring revenue
Stay informed on market trends, carrier appetites, and emerging commercial risks
Actively participate in agency marketing initiatives and campaigns
Required Qualifications
Active Property & Casualty (P&C) Producer License
3+ years of commercial insurance sales or related business-to-business experience
Proven track record of meeting sales or production goals
Strong understanding of commercial insurance products and risk management concepts
Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
Ability to build rapport and trust with business owners
Highly motivated, self-directed, and goal-oriented mindset
Proficiency with CRM/Agency Management Systems and Microsoft Office Suite
Strong organizational and time-management abilities
