Project Manager – Commercial Construction

Malitz Construction Inc. is a growing commercial contractor that was established in 1985 and is committed to quality, integrity, and client relationships. We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our team. In this role, you will lead all phases of construction projects from preconstruction through closeout, ensuring projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

The ideal candidate brings strong technical knowledge, leadership ability, and project management expertise to successfully manage multiple commercial construction projects.

Project Planning

  • Develop project plans, priorities, and execution strategies through practical planning and coordination.
  • Define project objectives, responsibilities, timelines, performance standards, and contingency plans.
  • Plan and coordinate project resources including labor, materials, and equipment based on project estimates.
  • Manage project schedules, permit processes, and utility coordination.
  • Manage RFIs (Requests for Information).
  • Assist in and contribute to project estimating and bid processes when required.
  • Manage project budgets and financial performance with strong attention to cost control.
  • Manage subcontractor billings and TrimblePay (account payable software) compliance.
  • Initiate, manage, and track change orders for both subcontractors and owners.
  • Negotiate effectively with project stakeholders to achieve fair and practical outcomes.


Team Management

  • Lead and develop Assistant Project Managers (APMs).
  • Collaborate with internal teams including leadership, administration, estimating, and operations.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with owners, architects, subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers.


Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with workplace safety regulations and industry best practices.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate project risks.
  • Facilitate conflict resolution between owners, architects, subcontractors, vendors, and other project stakeholders.


Quality Control

  • Oversee project startup using a comprehensive onboarding checklist covering accounting, procurement, insurance, signage, and other operational requirements.
  • Ensure subcontractor and vendor work meets Malitz Construction’s standards for quality, safety, and integrity.
  • Implement organized processes that support efficient workflow and adaptability in a dynamic project environment.


Client Communication

  • Maintain clear, professional communication with owners and project stakeholders.
  • Lead OAC (Owner-Architect-Contractor) meetings.
  • Coordinate with APMs to prepare weekly project status reports prior to OAC meetings.
  • Manage receipts, review, and tracking of project submittals.


Experience & Skills

  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, MS Project), PlanGrid, Trimble Vista, and TrimblePay.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to quickly grasp new concepts and lead others effectively.
  • Experience creating, implementing, and training others on standard operating procedures.
  • Familiarity with iPad and Microsoft Surface Pro devices.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional discretion.
  • Minimum of 5 years of construction management experience.
  • Experience with project estimating preferred
  • Construction Management degree or certification preferred.
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.

Every effort has been made to include all responsibilities and expectations of the Project Manager; however, miscellaneous tasks may be assigned from time to time.

Compensation: Base $130K-$140K
