Commercial Construction Project Manager - Retail and Commercial Construction - Base Salary to 114k/year - Dexter, MO

• Our client is a national commercial general contractor specializing in retail, grocery, and commercial construction projects, including open-store remodels, tenant improvements, and ground-up builds. With licensing across most U.S. states, they deliver high-volume construction programs for nationally recognized brands. They are seeking a Commercial Construction Project Manager to oversee projects from preconstruction through closeout, with a strong focus on retail and grocery construction environments.

Responsibilities:

• Manage multiple commercial construction projects simultaneously, including retail remodels, tenant improvements, and ground-up construction
• Lead project execution from preconstruction through closeout, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and client coordination
• Develop and maintain detailed project schedules (MS Project or similar) and ensure milestones are achieved
• Oversee subcontractor procurement, bid leveling, scope review, and buyout processes
• Monitor project budgets, cost tracking, forecasting, and job costing to ensure projects are delivered on or under budget
• Coordinate closely with Superintendents and field teams to ensure successful project execution
• Lead project meetings with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams
• Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation
• Coordinate material procurement, equipment delivery, and logistics to maintain project schedules
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, quality control processes, and contract requirements
• Build and maintain strong client relationships throughout the project lifecycle
• Mentor and support junior staff as needed

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience as a Project Manager in commercial construction
• Experience managing retail and/or grocery construction projects (e.g., Walmart, Sam’s Club, Food Lion, or similar environments)
• Experience with open-store remodels, phased construction, or fast-track project delivery is strongly preferred
• Demonstrated experience managing multiple concurrent projects
• Proficiency with construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, PlanGrid, MS Project, or similar tools
• Strong understanding of project financials, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts

Compensation:

• Base salary in the 84k - 114k/year range
