Temporary Staff: Collections Unit Clerk

Is seeking two (2) temporary staff for the position of Collections Unit Clerk. Our Ideal candidate will provide assistance to the Collections Unit by picking up, sorting and scanning all Collections Unit mail at the Administrative Office at 1 Ashburton Place, Boston, MA 02108.
The Collections Unit Clerk will efficiently and accurately open all mail received from the DTA Collections P.O. Box daily, sorting the mail into pre-determined categories, collaborating with other DTA staff to obtain client-specific coversheets and affixing them to relevant mail, scanning the documents via a multi function scanner to the appropriate location, and organizing and filing the mail. 
This assignment is estimated to begin on March 16, 2026 and end on May 15, 2026. The assignment may be shortened or extended based on operational needs. The position is required to report from 8:00 AM 4:00 PM EST daily, Monday through Friday, at 1 Ashburton Place, Boston, MA 02108.
This position will be paid hourly.

Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):
Serve as the Collections clerk on location for all Collections Mail collection, sorting and processing.
Collect Mail daily from the DTA P.O. Box located at 7 Avenue de Lafayette, Boston, MA 02111 and transport it to 1 Ashburton Place, Boston, MA 02108.
Open each mail piece and sorting it by document types.
Obtain cover sheets for mail for scanning purposes.
Scan mail and documents so that it can be assigned to Collections Unite Staff for processing.
File the mail after scanning.

Required Qualifications:
At least 1 year of clerical experience
Good time management skills
Experience with Multi-Function Scanning Devices
Ability to travel to the P.O. box and push a mail cart on foot for several blocks which may be up to 35 lbs.
Ability to follow instructions and work independently
Attention to detail
Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve
Good communication skills
