The Collections Manager will oversee and manage the company’s accounts receivable portfolio, with a focus on past-due accounts over 180 days. This role requires deep experience working with law firm partners and legal clients, as well as the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with the sales team to ensure effective resolution of outstanding receivables. The ideal candidate is proactive, persuasive, and skilled in balancing firm but professional client engagement with maintaining strong business relationships.

Job Details

Key Responsibilities

Lead collections efforts on accounts receivable over 180 days past due

Develop and execute strategies to improve collection timelines and reduce aged receivables

Communicate directly with law firm partners, general counsel, and senior legal stakeholders regarding outstanding balances

Collaborate with the sales team to strategize on account-specific challenges and align on client communications

Maintain accurate records of all collection activities, correspondence, and payment arrangements

Prepare and deliver regular reporting on collections performance, aged receivables, and risk accounts

Provide insights to finance leadership on trends, risks, and opportunities to strengthen cash flow

Recommend process improvements and best practices to enhance collections efficiency and client satisfaction

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)

5+ years of collections or accounts receivable management experience, preferably in a legal, eDiscovery, or professional services environment

Demonstrated experience working with law firm partners, attorneys, or legal operations teams

Proven track record of success managing complex, aged receivables (180+ days)

Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills with the ability to handle sensitive client relationships

Tech-savvy with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) and ERP/AR systems

Highly organized, detail-oriented, and results-driven

Comfortable working in a fast-paced, private equity backed environment

Preferred Skills

Experience with Sage Intacct, Lockstep, or Avalara

Knowledge of U.S. GAAP as it relates to revenue and receivables

Familiarity with the eDiscovery or legal services industry
