The Senior CNC MasterCam Programmer is responsible for programming, optimizing, and supporting 3-axis and 5-axis CNC machining operations in a high-precision manufacturing environment. This on-site role focuses on CNC programming, CAD design, prototype development, and production support to ensure high-quality machined components meet engineering drawings and customer specifications. The Senior CNC Programmer, CNC Machinist, and MasterCam Specialist will play a key role in improving machining efficiency, maintaining tight tolerances, and supporting production targets in a fast-paced fabrication setting.
Responsibilities:
Develop, write, and optimize CNC programs using MasterCam for 3-axis and 5-axis CNC routers and machining centers.
Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to produce precision machined components.
Create 2D and 3D CAD models and solid models to support part design, prototyping, and production.
Determine optimal machine setup, tooling selection, feeds and speeds, and workholding strategies for efficient machining operations.
Produce prototypes and first article parts, ensuring dimensional accuracy and adherence to quality standards.
Perform program troubleshooting, editing, and continuous improvement to reduce cycle times and scrap.
Utilize precision measuring instruments, including micrometers and calipers, to verify tolerances and quality control requirements.
Train, mentor, and supervise CNC operators and machinists to ensure consistent production of high-quality parts.
Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to resolve machining issues and improve manufacturing processes.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of verifiable experience programming and operating 3-axis and 5-axis CNC machines in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
Advanced proficiency in MasterCam for CNC programming and toolpath generation.
Strong CAD experience, including 2D drafting and 3D solid modeling.
Demonstrated experience building prototypes and supporting new product introduction processes.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and technical drawings.
Hands-on experience with precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, and other inspection equipment.
Prior supervisory or lead experience in a CNC machining or manufacturing setting.
Completion of technical school training in CNC machining, manufacturing technology, or equivalent hands-on experience.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience in plastic fabrication, precision machining, or custom manufacturing environments.
Knowledge of lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and production optimization strategies.
Familiarity with quality management systems and first article inspection processes.
Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and leadership skills in a high-volume production environment.
