Position Summary:

The CNA Transportation Assistant plays an essential role in supporting long-term care residents by ensuring safe, timely, and compassionate transportation to appointments both within Trinity Homes and to external healthcare or service locations. This position works in close communication with nursing staff and the broader care team to support resident comfort, safety, and dignity throughout each transition. The role requires attentiveness to varying mobility needs, adaptability, and a calm, respectful approach when assisting residents before, during, and after transport. By helping coordinate schedules and supporting smooth transitions, the CNA Transportation Assistant contributes to a collaborative, patient-focused care environment that values teamwork and positive working relationships.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Safely transports residents to and from appointments within Trinity Homes and to external facilities, ensuring comfort and adherence to scheduled times.
  • Assists residents with getting in and out of wheelchairs, vehicles, or mobility equipment, providing physical support as needed.
  • Communicates effectively with nursing staff to confirm appointment details, resident readiness, and follow up needs.
  • Monitors resident wellbeing during transport, reporting any concerns or changes in condition promptly.
  • Maintains cleanliness, safety, and readiness of transportation equipment and vehicles.
  • Provides respectful and compassionate interaction with residents, supporting a positive and dignified experience throughout the transport process.


Licenses and Certifications Required:
  • ND CNA certification required
  • Driver's license required

Educational Requirements:
  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred

Experience Requirements:
  • Prefer experience in the healthcare field, but not required

Physical Requirements:

This position requires frequent standing, walking, pushing, and pulling while assisting residents with varied mobility levels. The ability to safely lift, stabilize, or support up to 50 pounds is often necessary when helping residents in and out of wheelchairs or vehicles. Strong manual dexterity, balance, and stamina are essential to manage equipment, navigate hallways or ramps, and maintain resident safety during transport. Clear communication and situational awareness are critical to ensuring smooth, safe transitions.

Environmental Requirements:

Work occurs both indoors within long term care settings and outdoors when transporting residents to external appointments, exposing the CNA to changing weather conditions and variable environments. The role may involve navigating crowded hallways, uneven surfaces, or busy community locations while maintaining resident safety. Additionally, the CNA may encounter typical long term care environmental factors such as disinfectants, noise levels, and occasional exposure to bodily fluids. Flexibility, patience, and adherence to all safety protocols remain essential in all transport situations.
