Salary: starting at $20 / hour - depending on experience / education
Job Summary
The Certified Medical Assistant provides direct patient care and assists medical providers in basic examinations and medical procedures.
Responsibilities:- Provides top-notch customer service to everyone.
- Complies with all legal requirements of the medical center.
- Updates and maintains all EMR and transitioning of hard copy to electronic records.
- Cleans, stocks, prepares all exam areas prior to patient appointments and after each patient is seen.
- Maintains stock levels for all medical supplies and submits requests to manager.
- Manages and tracks vaccines according to regulatory requirements.
- Verifies patients’ identity when taking patients to exam room.
- Verifies reason for visit.
- Assists the patient with ambulating, transferring to an exam table, and changing into an exam gown if necessary.
- Records and reports any changes in medical history prior to practitioner seeing the patient.
- Reviews/updates medication
- Checks and records patient vital signs, weight and height into EMR
- Checks vision
- Performs EKG as necessary.
- Performs phlebotomy as needed.
- Performs any adjunct care for the patient, such as wound care, dressings as ordered by the practitioner.
- Reports any abnormal findings to the practitioner.
- Coordinate any necessary appointments with the front desk staff.
- Assists the nurses and other staff as needed.
- Assists the front desk with administrative duties.
- Notify the front desk of any appointments necessary.
- Advises front desk of any changes to the schedules.
- Performs administrative tasks, including photocopying, faxing and any filing.
- Attends inter-office meetings as necessary.
- Keep all credentials, certifications, and job requirements up to date.
- Comply with all mandatory trainings.
- Maintains positive working relationships at all times and with all employees.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as directed by the manager.
- High School Diploma/GED required; Associate degree preferred.
- Active CMA certification from an accredited state program required.
- Three plus years of medical office experience required.
- Medical terminology, EMR experience preferred. Quest Care 360 a plus, Carelogic and Insync.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Working knowledge of Electronic Medical Records
- Experience with Microsoft Office.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Must be able to work collaboratively with all colleagues.

- Maintains patient confidentiality and adheres to all HIPPA requirements.
- The ability to troubleshoot and problem solve independent of the practice manager.

- Must be able to troubleshoot customer service issues in a professional and friendly manner.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be ability to lift 50 pounds, bend, squat and reach on a consistent basis.
