Job Overview The Clinical Pharmacist Specialist ensures safe, appropriate, and economical use of drugs through the application of specialized skills and knowledge in pediatric patient care. Children's Hospital Colorado is home to the most technologically advanced pediatric intensive care units (PICUs) in the Rocky Mountain region. With PICUs in both the Denver metro area and in Colorado Springs, we are equipped to care for the most serious and complex pediatric conditions 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The PICU at Children's Hospital Colorado on the Anschutz Medical Campus is the largest in the Rocky Mountain region. With up to 48 beds and a care team of more than 150 clinicians, nurses and specialized staff, we see some of the most acute pediatric conditions from the surrounding states. The Department of Pharmacy provides comprehensive clinical services to patients at Children's Hospital Colorado. We have organized clinical pharmacy services that complement the team approach to providing care. Our clinical pediatric pharmacists are available 24 hours a day and help ensure the safe and effective use of medication in children - as well as promote health, wellness and disease prevention. Our specially-trained pharmacists work with physicians and other healthcare professionals to determine the best medication regimen and monitoring plan for the pediatric patient. Clinical pharmacy services are integrated into virtually all inpatient care units as designated pharmacists round with the medical teams. Through this direct involvement, pharmacists are empowered to assist in a great deal of therapeutic decision making and therapeutic drug monitoring activities. Additional Information Department: Pharmacy Hours per week: 40, eligible for benefits Shift: Monday - Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm. Every 3rd weekend rotating and selected holidays. Qualifications Education: Doctor of Pharmacy or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree Experience: Two (2) years of residency experience or one (1) year of residency plus three (3) years of work experience Equivalency: Three (3) years of pharmacy work experience in area of specialty accepted in lieu of 2nd year of residency.
