Job Summary and Qualifications

Registered Dietitian Supervisor participates and performs all the responsibilities of the Registered dietitian in providing nutrition care, support and education for the patients,

families, physicians and staff. In addition to the nutrition care, registered dietitian supervisor is responsible for the supervision of registered dietitian(s) and the room service line. Supervisory duties are outlined as below.

Directs staff in the functions of patient assessment, nutrition care planning and education.

  • Ensures that all standards of performance for clinical services are met.
  • Ensures that the registered dietitians meet JCAHO and Medicare requirements.
  • Responsible for staffing- schedules and assignments, ensuring optimum personnel utilization in meeting clinical services provided to patients.
  • Conducts performance audits and makes appropriate recommendations on an ongoing basis to continuously improve clinical nutritional services.
  • Maintains current job descriptions, and activity lists at all times for registered dietitian(s)
  • Writes and updates clinical care policies and procedures as well as collaborates with other departments for interdisciplinary hospital wide policies.
  • Orients new dietitians to policies and procedures. Maintains all in-service/training records of clinical staff.
  • Proposes staff development goals and implements processes to improve quality and care provided by clinical staff.
  • Attends interdisciplinary patient care meetings on weekly basis.
  • Encourages a proactive role in promoting nutrition awareness to physicians, nurses, and hospital staff.

Develops and implements quality assurance program for clinical care services.

  • Establishes clinical aspects of care and quality indicators to monitor.
  • Conducts audits to identify quality issue.
  • Reports QA findings to appropriate committees.

Directs clinical services activities in coordination with hospital department goals and objectives

  • Represents Nutrition & Food Services on assigned interdisciplinary committees.
  • Communicates effectively with department members to ensure optimum patient care.
  • Participates in department management team meetings and assist with weekly ‘ Room Service meetings.
  • Coordinates and conducts clinical staff meeting.
  • Actively participates in at least one professional organization.
  • Writes and updates patient service policies and procedures, as well as collaborates with other department for interdisciplinary hospital wide policies.
  • Assures new nurses are orientated to At Your Request Room Service program.
  • Ensures Health Touch menus are updated and appropriated.
  • Proactively resolves patient issues as a portion of patient satisfaction initiatives.
  • Acts as a liaison with nursing.
What qualifications you will need:
  • (RD-STATE) Registered Dietitian - State
  • (RD/RDN) Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist
  • Bachelors Degree
