Clinical Assistant

Bluegrass Orthopaedics is hiring a full-time Clinical Assistant for our Clinical Department in Lexington, KY.

As a Clinical Assistant with Bluegrass Orthopaedics, you will play a key role in supporting Providers in a fast-paced orthopedic clinic environment. This position is well-suited for individuals with clinical backgrounds such as Medical Assistants, Athletic Trainers, Orthopedic Technicians, or other hands-on patient care roles.

Key Responsibilities:

• Room patients and obtain vitals, medical history, and chief complaints
• Assist Providers with clinical procedures, including suture/staple removal, bandaging, and post-operative care
• Create and process PT orders, work status forms, and other clinical documentation
• E-scribe medications and assist with patient instructions
• Document all patient interactions accurately in the EMR
• Manage daily administrative tasks including:
  • Returning patient calls and voicemails
  • Processing faxes and electronic documents (e.g., Updox)
  • Completing FMLA and short-term disability paperwork
  • Monitoring and ensuring timely completion of Provider documentation
• Support clinic operations and provide coverage across departments as needed

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Experience in a clinical setting preferred; backgrounds may include:
  • Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA preferred)
  • Athletic Trainer (ATC)
  • Orthopedic Technician
  • Other direct patient care roles in orthopedics, sports medicine, or related fields
• Strong understanding of clinical workflows and EMR systems
• Excellent communication, organization, and multitasking skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
