The Equipment Transport Driver is responsible for safely transporting heavy equipment and machinery to and from construction sites. This role requires a thorough understanding of how to handle oversized loads, secure equipment properly, and navigate safely through various road conditions. The ideal candidate has a strong commitment to safety, is highly dependable, and can work effectively within tight deadlines. 

Key Responsibilities:
Safe Transport of Equipment:
  • Load, secure, transport, and unload construction equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and other heavy machinery. 
  • Ensure all equipment is properly secured and follows legal safety and weight restrictions. 
  • Navigate to and from construction sites efficiently, prioritizing safe driving practices on public roads and construction sites. 

Vehicle and Equipment Maintenance:
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the transport vehicle, including trailer and securing mechanisms, to ensure safe operation. 
  • Report any vehicle or equipment issues to the supervisor and arrange for timely repairs or maintenance. 
  • Maintain cleanliness and general upkeep of the transport vehicle.

Route and Schedule Management:
  • Plan and follow optimal routes to ensure on-time delivery and pickup of equipment. 
  • Communicate any delays, traffic issues, or other factors affecting the schedule to the supervisor and relevant team members. 
  • Utilize GPS and other navigation tools as needed.

Compliance and Documentation:
  • Adhere to all DOT regulations and company policies regarding driving hours, load limits, and safety standards. 
  • Complete all required documentation, including delivery logs, mileage records, and inspection reports. 
  • Ensure that all permits or certifications for transporting heavy/oversized loads are up-to-date and accessible.

Qualifications:
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience transporting heavy equipment or oversized loads; experience in a construction or industrial environment is preferred. Must have low-bed, end-dump and tanker experience.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), Class A; additional endorsements may be preferred.
  • Skills: Strong understanding of DOT regulations, safe equipment handling, load securement techniques, and effective route planning. 
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift, secure, and handle heavy equipment; comfortable with physical exertion required for loading and unloading machinery.
