Staff Civil Engineer

Role Overview

As a Staff Civil Engineer, you will lead and deliver complex design projects for a variety of industrial, utility, municipal, and institutional clients. You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, mentor junior engineers, and manage the preparation of high-quality construction documents under tight schedules. This position also involves direct coordination with clients, consultants, and contractors throughout design and construction phases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work on the civil design for high-profile energy and utilities infrastructure projects. 
  • Assist management to oversee the full project lifecycle, from initiation design to construction closure.
  • Perform engineering calculations and design of site/civil systems for industrial facilities, higher education campuses, and public infrastructure projects for federal, state, and municipal clients.
  • Conduct planning, permitting, design, and construction support for projects involving stormwater systems, water/wastewater treatment, pump stations, and geothermal.
  • Prepare construction documents, specifications, construction schedules and cost estimates
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D, and familiarity with related software to develop site layouts, grading plans, utility profiles, and other design tasks.
  • Development of Stormwater Pollution prevention Plans (SWPPP), and coordinate permitting and inspection tasks.     
  • Conduct research on engineering guidelines and regulations of municipal agencies.  
  • Conduct field inspections and manage QA/QC during construction.
  • Collaborate on proposals and represent CE in meetings with clients and stakeholders

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
  • Experience: 5-7 years in civil engineering, with a focus on utilities and public infrastructure
  • Licensure: EIT required; PE preferred
  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of civil design, construction practices, and relevant building codes
  • Software: Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office; Revit familiarity a plus
  • Other: Valid NYS driver’s license (or equivalent) and willingness to travel throughout the NYC Metro Area
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
