Summary:

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the North Anna Subsequent License Renewal (SLR) project, focusing on extending the plant’s operational life through system upgrades and infrastructure modernization.
  • Develop and execute technical solutions across mechanical, civil, and electrical scopes to ensure regulatory compliance and operational excellence.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering required.
  • Preferred industry experience in the Nuclear Industry.
  • 2-5 years of experience in a professional engineering position.
  • Knowledge and application of engineering theories, principles, concepts, and fundamentals.
  • Competency in applying engineering principles and practices.
  • Ability to perform engineering calculations using applicable software programs (e.g., Matlab, Excel).
  • Planning, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Ability to develop and exercise leadership skills.
  • Effective decision-making skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, including technical writing.
  • Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems.
  • Ability to interpret codes, regulations, and practices.
  • Equally effective working independently or in a team environment.
  • Ability to process information quickly and manage multiple tasks.


Required Skills:

  • Experience with design of steel and concrete structures or components (Pipes and conduits supports, Junction boxes support, foundations, etc.).
  • Familiarity with industrial standards such as ACI, ASCE, ASME codes for lifting and rigging.
  • Experience with seismic analysis and design for mounting components and equipment.
  • Collaboration and cross-discipline communication skills.
  • Adaptability and problem-solving abilities.
  • Attention to detail and documentation rigor.
  • Initiative and ownership in identifying design risks and driving tasks to completion.
  • Stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.


Preferred Skills:

  • Nuclear Standard Design Process/Design Change qualification.
  • Experience as a Responsible Engineer at a Nuclear Facility.
  • Experience with software such as Mathcad, GTSTrudl, STADD, ANSyS.
  • Finite Element Modeling experience.


Benefits:

  • OT is typically only during outages; however, there is one near-term project that may require 5x10s.
