Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the North Anna Subsequent License Renewal (SLR) project, focusing on extending the plant’s operational life through system upgrades and infrastructure modernization.
- Develop and execute technical solutions across mechanical, civil, and electrical scopes to ensure regulatory compliance and operational excellence.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering required.
- Preferred industry experience in the Nuclear Industry.
- 2-5 years of experience in a professional engineering position.
- Knowledge and application of engineering theories, principles, concepts, and fundamentals.
- Competency in applying engineering principles and practices.
- Ability to perform engineering calculations using applicable software programs (e.g., Matlab, Excel).
- Planning, organizational, and project management skills.
- Ability to develop and exercise leadership skills.
- Effective decision-making skills.
- Effective oral and written communication skills, including technical writing.
- Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems.
- Ability to interpret codes, regulations, and practices.
- Equally effective working independently or in a team environment.
- Ability to process information quickly and manage multiple tasks.
Required Skills:
- Experience with design of steel and concrete structures or components (Pipes and conduits supports, Junction boxes support, foundations, etc.).
- Familiarity with industrial standards such as ACI, ASCE, ASME codes for lifting and rigging.
- Experience with seismic analysis and design for mounting components and equipment.
- Collaboration and cross-discipline communication skills.
- Adaptability and problem-solving abilities.
- Attention to detail and documentation rigor.
- Initiative and ownership in identifying design risks and driving tasks to completion.
- Stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Preferred Skills:
- Nuclear Standard Design Process/Design Change qualification.
- Experience as a Responsible Engineer at a Nuclear Facility.
- Experience with software such as Mathcad, GTSTrudl, STADD, ANSyS.
- Finite Element Modeling experience.
Benefits:
- OT is typically only during outages; however, there is one near-term project that may require 5x10s.
