Civil Associate Engineering Technician – Underground Transmission

Location: Tualatin, OR (Onsite, 5 days/week)

Type: Temp to Perm

Pay Rate: $37.06/hr

Requirement: US Citizenship or Green Card

Position Overview

The Civil Associate Engineering Technician will support the Virtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS) team under general supervision, performing technical tasks that require intermediate knowledge of engineering principles and design practices. This role focuses on developing plan and profile deliverables using Autodesk Civil 3D and/or Bentley MicroStation.

This position supports the COMPANY Distributed Infrastructure (Grid) solution, specifically for underground transmission line projects. Candidates must have basic Civil 3D experience, including alignments, plan/profile, and sections.

Job Summary

  • Support engineering teams under general supervision

  • Perform technical tasks requiring intermediate engineering knowledge

  • Use digital tools and design software (CAD, BIM, 3D modeling)

  • Create, update, and maintain technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables

  • Begin providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior technicians

Key Responsibilities

  • Stay current on applicable standards, systems, document control practices, departmental guides, and COMPANY policies

  • Apply COMPANY Quality Program requirements to ensure accurate, compliant deliverables

  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail and support continuous improvement initiatives

  • Use and expand digital tools to evaluate and improve methods, processes, and procedures

  • Create and develop project deliverables based on various design inputs

  • Perform basic computations, including material quantity estimates and dimensional checks

  • Coordinate deliverables with other project groups to minimize errors and interferences

  • Support internal client needs while developing an understanding of external client priorities

  • Proactively seek out, share, and apply knowledge of new technologies and evolving processes

Required Skills

  • Proficiency with Autodesk Civil 3D and/or Bentley MicroStation

  • Experience developing plan and profile deliverables using Civil 3D

  • Basic Civil 3D knowledge including alignments, plan/profile, and sections

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to learn and apply standards, systems, and document control practices

  • Ability to perform basic engineering computations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diploma or Certificate required

  • Associate Degree in Drafting or an Engineering Design–related technology preferred

Minimum Qualifications

  • Typically 2+ years of related work experience

  • Ability to complete all pre‑employment onboarding requirements, which may include:
