Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on chiller equipment (centrifugal, screw, scroll, absorption, etc.).
- Inspect and service compressors, evaporators, condensers, heat exchangers, pumps, valves, and piping.
- Check and adjust refrigerant levels, pressures, superheat/subcooling, and overall system performance.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and control issues using gauges, multimeters, analyzers, and BAS interfaces.
- Install new chiller units and related mechanical/HVAC components.
- Set up chilled‑water loops, pumps, cooling towers, and control wiring.
- Conduct startup, testing, and commissioning per manufacturer specifications.
- Identify and resolve faults in refrigeration circuits, electrical circuits, VFDs, sensors, and PLC/BAS systems.
- Analyze performance issues and recommend efficiency improvements.
- Maintain accurate service logs, maintenance records, work orders, and inspection reports.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and refrigerant handling regulations (EPA 608).
- Follow lockout/tagout procedures and safe‑handling protocols for high‑pressure and high‑voltage systems.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or technical school certificate in HVAC/R or related field.
- 2–5 years of experience servicing commercial or industrial HVAC/chiller systems.
- Strong understanding of refrigeration cycles, chilled‑water systems, and HVAC controls.
- Ability to read schematics, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools such as gauges, meters, refrigerant analyzers, and control software.
