Job Summary and Qualifications

The Child Birth Educator serves as a clinical expert, assuming responsibility for assessing community child birth needs, planning, implementing and evaluating programs developed to meet those needs. In this capacity you will be responsible for upgrading lactation knowledge and skills for the staff, patients and the community through formal and individual education programs. We are looking for a highly skilled individual who feels promoting the overall wellbeing of patients is as meaningful as we do. In this role:

• You will assist in the maintenance of current training materials as a resource for the healthcare team.
• You will assist in data collection and subsequent program development and implementation that improves outcomes for patients.
• You will participate in the development of guidelines, protocols, and patient education materials to ensure they are informed about the hospitals policies.
• You will conduct educational programs for the outpatient population as needed, including outpatient consultations on a one to one basis.

What qualifications you will need:

•  American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification preferred. Must obtain BLS or BCLS within 30 days of hire and maintain certification.
•  High School diploma or equivalent required, bachelor’s preferred.
• 1-2 years of Child Birth education experience preferred.
