About The Position:
11th Hour Service has immediate openings for licensed mental health professionals, licensed professional counselors, clinical social workers and marriage and family therapists to work with the Department of Defense's largest mental health program, the Military & Family Life Counselor (MFLC) program. This exciting and extremely important opportunity provides flexible, walk-around counseling to military service members and their families. Must have an active LCSW, LCPC, LMFT, LISW, or active Independent Clinical Licensure in any state is acceptable.

Job Overview:
MFLCs provide non-medical counseling services to military service members and their families. Non- medical counseling is supportive in nature and addresses: living conditions; life skills; improving relationships at home and at work; stress management; adjustment issues, such as those related to returning from deployment; marital problems; parenting, fear, grief, and loss. Counseling modalities consist of individual, family, couples, and groups. MFLCs may be based out of an installation’s family center, a National Guard and Reserve Joint Force HQ or other facilities and will provide proactive outreach to service members and their families via walk-around counseling.

Tasks & Responsibilities:
  • Provide a full scope of Child and Youth Behavioral Health (CYB) services to children, dependents of military service members, and their families at the child development centers, community schools, and military installations.
  • Services include non-medical counseling, training, and health and wellness presentations.
  • Provide consultations to parents and personnel at child daycare centers and schools.
  • Provide consultation to the installation command staff regarding behavioral issues affecting children and youth.
  • CYB MFLCs serving in schools for an average of nine-month assignments (based on local school calendars).
  • CYB counselors may also be assigned to youth programs, summer camps, and on-demand assignments.

Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree (MS/MSW/MA) from an accredited graduate program in a mental health related field such as social work, psychology, marriage/family therapy, or counseling.
  • Must have licensure at the independent practice level (LCSW, LMFT, LPC, LCPC, LMHC); out-of-state independent licenses are acceptable.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and must speak fluent English.
  • Must be able to obtain NACI clearance.
  • Understanding, sensitivity, and empathy for military service members and their families.
