Job Description

This position is being reposted.  Those applicants who previously applied remain under consideration and need not reapply.

This position will be responsible for operating and maintaining stationary diesel engines, large pumps and ancillary machinery, and equipment at a pumping station. Perform preventative maintenance of diesel engines, main pumps, generators, compressors, travel screen and raw water intake, and trash rake. Participate in the overhauling of diesel engines. Responsible for the leadership of a Pump Station Operation team.

Responsibilities include the training and guidance of any and all crews working at the Pump Station facility in machinery operations, maintenance, plant operations, plant safety, and all operational procedures. Perform planning and implementing all program activities including the scheduling of personnel and assisting with budget and utilization of team resources.

Ability to use a computerized maintenance management system, preferably SAP and Microsoft Suite. Serve as resident expert on all aspects of plant machinery and facility maintenance standards. Provide feedback to immediate supervisor regarding employee performance of assigned crew.

Other duties as assigned.

Work hours are Monday – Thursday from 6:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Employment Guidelines

High School Diploma or GED and 4+ years of experience in the operation and maintenance of diesel engines plus a minimum of three (3) years of experience demonstrating leadership capabilities as a crew leader in corresponding program. The hiring range for this position is $70,449.60 to $80,225.60 (based on education and years of relevant work experience). Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

License

Valid State of Florida Driver's License

Forklift Operations Certification (Required)
                                                                                                              
First Aid/CPR/AED (Required)

Must possess the ability to obtain Rigging Certification (Required)

Physical Requirements/Working Environment

Due to the District's response role and in the total scope of emergency management, this position may at times, be required to provide support before, during and after major storm events and emergency situations, such as hurricanes or other declared emergencies, depending on assigned emergency response role.
Regularly sets up, adjusts, controls, tests, and operates equipment to complete assignments.  Work environment may be hot and humid with no facilities. Moves or otherwise transport equipment weighing up to 50 pounds or more. Position works inside and outside traveling to pumping stations inspecting and repairing machinery and equipment. 
Overtime will be required based on weather and/or environmental conditions.
