Job Title: Chemist I
Location: Wilson, NC
Type: Contract
Contractor Work Model: Onsite
Hours: 10-hour shifts, Monday-Thursday, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM, with some flexibility in start time
Pay Rate: $25/hr

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of chemical analyses and GMP reviews in accordance with cGMP, GLP, DEA, and company policies and procedures.
  • Perform routine testing (dissolution, assay/degradant, content uniformity, and ID) of drug products in a cGMP laboratory.
  • Complete all assigned testing in a timely and organized manner, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and policies.
  • Enter data into laboratory information system and accurately document all necessary and relevant information clearly and concisely as per cGMP protocols.
  • Operate and maintain analytical instrumentation such as HPLC, GC, Spectroscopy (UV/Vis, NIR, IR, AA/AE), troubleshooting as needed.
  • Communicate effectively within the group to share information, optimize use of resources, and improve efficiency.
  • Assist other team members as required to achieve team objectives.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety standards in the laboratory, restock chemicals and consumables, and ensure proper equipment maintenance.
  • Perform miscellaneous related duties as assigned, including handling laboratory equipment and performing basic maintenance tasks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) in Chemistry or a closely related science.
  • Minimum of 1 year relevant experience preferred (academic and/or industry).
  • Understanding of analytical technology including HPLC, GC, Dissolution, Automation, or Spectroscopy (UV/Vis, NIR, IR, AA/AE).
  • Ability to operate laboratory equipment and perform troubleshooting.
  • Strong documentation and data entry skills in GMP environments.
  • Good safety and housekeeping practices in laboratory settings.
  • Ability to lift and maneuver materials weighing up to 20 pounds; experienced in sampling with physical activity including stretching, bending, twisting.
  • Proficiency in using small hand and power tools for equipment maintenance.
