About the Role
We are seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to provide direct patient care and support to Veterans/Members in a structured, team-based care environment. This role is ideal for CNAs who are dependable, compassionate, and comfortable working full 12-hour day shifts while supporting both clinical care and quality improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Assist Veterans/Members with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including transfers, ambulation, eating, bathing, dressing, toileting, and personal hygiene
Follow instructions to use simple procedures and devices to strengthen limbs and maintain flexibility
Assist nursing staff with basic medical procedures, including suppositories, enemas, treatments, post-surgical care, and post-mortem care
Monitor and observe physical and mental status of Veterans/Members
Take and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respirations) using appropriate medical equipment
Collect urine, sputum, or stool samples and track intake/output
Maintain accurate medical record and worksheet documentation; prepare simple reports
Assist with dining services, including transporting Veterans/Members to the dining room, reviewing menu options, communicating selections to dining staff, serving meals, and assisting with feeding as needed
Respond promptly to resident requests (verbal or call light) in accordance with the Resident Bill of Rights
Maintain a clean, sanitary environment by changing linens, bedding, and related items
Assist licensed nurses during emergency situations, following established policies and procedures
Transport Veterans/Members to appointments outside the facility as needed
Perform additional duties such as clerical support (answering phones, filing, etc.)
Actively participate in Arizona Management System (AMS) processes, including Huddle Boards, problem-solving, job breakdown sheets, success tracking, and standardized work
Participate in QAPI (Quality Assurance & Performance Improvement) activities as required by CMS
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs)
Knowledge of:
Principles and practices of para-professional nursing care
State and agency laws and regulations governing CNA practice
Proper use of medical equipment
Maintaining a safe, therapeutic, and hygienic care environment
Skills:
Applying CNA methods and techniques appropriately
Using and maintaining medical equipment
Accurate documentation and medical record keeping
Verbal and written communication
Ability to:
Establish and maintain effective working relationships
Learn, implement, and follow Arizona Management System (AMS) methods
Education & Certification
Active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in the State of Arizona (required)
