Location: Okatie, SC.  Travel between 3 clinics- Hilton Head, Okatie and Beaufort, SC (rarely)

As a Certified Medical Assistant, you'll coordinate and assist the provider to ensure safe quality/cost effective service and care for the people within the practice population. What We're Looking For:
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED, required.
    • Candidates will provide proof of current certification from one of the approved certifying registries including: • CMA with the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) • CCMA with the National Health Career Association (NHA) • RMA with the American Medical Technologists (AMT) • American Registry of Medical Assistants (NHCWA) • National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) • National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP) • American Allied Health (AAH) RMA with the American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA). If a candidate is not currently certified, they must obtain certification or registration by the end of the sixth month of their hire and sign an education agreement.

    • Licensure/Certification:
      • Current certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire as CMA, RMA or CCMA, required.
      • Current State Drivers License (Palliative Care Only), required.
    • Additional Skills (required): Ability to successfully complete generic and department specific skills validation and competency testing.
What You'll Do:

Clinical Duties

  • Take and record patient vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, etc.)

  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures

  • Assist physicians during exams and minor surgeries

  • Collect and prepare laboratory specimens (e.g., blood, urine)

  • Perform basic laboratory tests

  • Administer medications and injections as directed by a physician

  • Perform electrocardiograms (EKGs)

  • Remove sutures or change dressings

  • Sterilize and maintain medical instruments and exam rooms

Administrative Duties

  • Schedule patient appointments

  • Check patients in and out

  • Verify insurance information and process billing or coding tasks

  • Manage medical records and ensure HIPAA compliance

  • Answer phones, respond to inquiries, and relay messages

  • Handle correspondence, such as referrals or test results

Patient Care & Communication

  • Educate patients about medications, treatments, and healthy lifestyle choices

  • Provide emotional support and ensure patient comfort

  • Coordinate follow-up care or referrals to specialists

Regulatory & Professional Responsibilities

  • Follow OSHA and infection control standards

  • Maintain certification and participate in continuing education

  • Ensure confidentiality and ethical conduct in all patient interactions
