Registered Nurse – Certified Diabetes Educator Position Overview
Seeking a Registered Nurse – Certified Diabetes Educator to provide compassionate, culturally sensitive, and patient-centered care in a clinical setting. This role collaborates with a multidisciplinary diabetes management team to educate patients and families living with diabetes and support individualized care plans.
Registered Nurse – Certified Diabetes Educator Responsibilities
- Deliver diabetes education to patients and families.
- Utilize the nursing process and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.
- Administer medications and treatments according to policies and standards.
- Develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
- Document care in accordance with clinical standards (EPIC EMR).
- Support performance improvement initiatives and shared governance.
- Provide clinical expertise and guidance across departments.
- Act as a patient advocate addressing clinical, psychosocial, and financial concerns.
- Serve as a resource for staff regarding patient education materials and programs.
Registered Nurse – Certified Diabetes Educator Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred).
- Active RN license in Illinois and Wisconsin.
- CDCES certification required.
- BLS certification required.
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience.
- CPR certification within 90 days if not already obtained.
Registered Nurse – Certified Diabetes Educator Additional Details
- Guaranteed 40 hours/week.
- Overtime after 40 hrs at +$10/hr equivalent.
- No on-call or holiday requirements.
- Floating may be required based on competency and facility needs.
- Facility size: 150–500 beds.
