The Opportunity
We're seeking a quality-driven Cash Accountant to join our dynamic finance team in Reading, PA. This role offers the perfect blend of accounting work and strategic analysis, with real visibility into how your contributions support company-wide decision-making.

What You'll Do
Core Responsibilities:
- Drive accuracy: Perform monthly general ledger reconciliations for Cash, Accounts Payable (AP), Income Tax and Security Deposits accounts, ensuring financial integrity across accounts.
- Solve complex problems: Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies with analytical precision.
- Shape financial reporting: Prepare journal entries and support monthly close processes.
- Add strategic value: Conduct variance analysis and present insights to management including monthly metrics that help make decisions and drive performance.
- Be the expert: Serve as a trusted resource for accounting inquiries and process improvements. Integrate LEAN into daily process.
- Ensure compliance: Maintain process control and support both internal and external audit requirements.
- Lead initiatives: Take ownership of special projects that enhance our financial operations.
What You Bring
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Experience: 2+ years in accounting or finance roles
- Technical Skills:
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, advanced lookup functions, financial modeling)
- Solid understanding of GAAP principles
- Professional Qualities:
- Exceptional attention to detail with analytical mindset
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently while thriving in team settings
- Strong organizational skills with ability to manage competing priorities
- Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening are required.
Preferred (But Not Required):
CPA certification or actively pursuing
- Experience with Accounting systems (AS400, Onestream, Oracle, or similar)
- Background in corporate or public accounting
- Previous experience in transportation, logistics, or manufacturing industries
