Job Summary:
A leading manufacturing organization is seeking a skilled Calibration Technician to support instrument accuracy and measurement integrity within a regulated production environment. This role is responsible for performing precise calibrations on equipment used to monitor and control critical manufacturing conditions in real time. The position plays a key role in ensuring production consistency, quality compliance, and regulatory adherence.
The Calibration Technician will collaborate closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, external vendors, and third-party contractors. Candidates must be comfortable working in a plant environment and possess strong technical expertise, particularly within pharmaceutical or medical device manufacturing settings.
Job Duties:
- Perform calibration and verification of instrumentation used to measure pressure, temperature, flow, torque, speed, electrical properties, and related physical or chemical parameters.
- Calibrate both internal production equipment and customer-owned measuring devices.
- Identify and quantify sources of measurement error; calculate and document measurement uncertainty and Test Uncertainty Ratios (TUR).
- Prepare detailed calibration documentation including methods, measurement data, uncertainty calculations, TUR analysis, and NIST traceability.
- Support and troubleshoot real-time process instrumentation installed on production lines, such as pressure transmitters, flow meters, temperature sensors, and pH/conductivity probes.
- Provide technical support to internal teams and customers regarding measurement practices, compliance standards, and traceability requirements.
- Assist in resolving technical questions, discrepancies, or contract-related measurement concerns.
- Maintain compliance with applicable quality systems and regulatory standards.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; military PMEL or equivalent technical training strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of hands-on metrology or calibration experience.
- Working knowledge of metrology principles, measurement uncertainty analysis, and industry best practices.
- Familiarity with quality standards such as ISO 17025 and ANSI/NCSL Z540-1.
- Ability to interpret technical schematics, specifications, and calibration procedures.
- Strong analytical skills to assess and minimize measurement error.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly explain technical concepts.
- Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrates strong work ethic, adaptability, and ability to meet deadlines in a dynamic organization.
