Job Description:
- The CAD Designer is responsible for creating accurate and detailed drawings using CAD software based on provided instructions, sketches, and layouts.
- This role involves working closely with engineers and other team members to produce high quality drawings for various projects.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare drawings using MicroStation or other CAD software (AutoCAD) according to provided instructions.
- Perform drawing changes and revisions as directed by engineers or project managers.
- Receive supervision, instruction, and review of work to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards.
- Follow drafting practices and procedures to produce clear and concise drawings.
- Communicate effectively with team members to understand project requirements and timelines.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree (Technology or Drafting) plus experience; or related vocational technical high school program.
- Proficiency in CAD software, particularly MicroStation or similar tools.
- Basic understanding of drafting practices and procedures. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Technical Skills:
Must have: 3D modeling experience.
Nice to have: Experience with Bentley Substation
Responsibilities:
- 3D design of custom equipment design solutions, including physical plan, elevations, section detail views, required custom views for FACTS solutions for orders and proposals.
- Develop Bills of Material for all designs, ensure consistency and quality throughout design process.
- Interface with internal and external team members such as principal engineers, control engineers, civil engineers, electrical designers, project managers, engineering leaders and support organizations.
- Facilitate the development and execute cost reduction programs that vary in scope and may include low-cost vendor selection, design improvements, process improvements, automation, and new product introduction.
- Excellent personal computer skills, including proficiency with Excel and Word, Autodesk and Bentley Open Utilities 3D CAD platforms.
- Support project quality procedures and initiatives including aspects of ISO9001.
