Overview:

The Buyer/Planner 1 is tasked with making inventory replenishment decisions based on system projections. They are required to gather data to support packaging changes, location changes within assembly, and to support the kitting of purchased materials. They will provide customer support to assembly Team Members and any support areas within production.

Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate day-to-day activities to maintain scheduled production requirements.
  • Receives and reviews requisitions requesting goods or services.
  • Expedites orders and requests as needed.
  • Communicates with vendors to obtain product or service information, such as availability and delivery schedule.
  • Procures materials or other goods and/or coordinates activities involved with purchasing products and services, such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, and supplies, for establishment.
  • Maintain the computer records for supplier data, effectivity dates, and other relevant entries.
  • Support production Team Members & Suppliers with a sense of urgency by developing relationships to create clear and timely communication methods, such as making phone calls, sending/answering emails, walking to the shop floor, and traveling to visit suppliers on occasion
  • Work to continuously improve processes, maintain inventory integrity, while utilizing space constraints.
  • This role has significant interaction with all levels within materials/procurement and partners with Safety, Production, Logistics, Human Resources, Engineering, and Quality departments.
  • Coordinates logistics to ensure product arrives on time to meet schedules.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

Knowledge/Experience/Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in operations management is preferred.
  • 0-3 years of experience in a medium/high volume manufacturing environment is a plus. 

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient in using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Good oral and written communication skills, basic problem solving and troubleshooting ability.
  • Works independently with general supervision.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and, at times, stressful environment.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.

Physical Requirements:

  • Position involves sitting for long periods, standing, manual dexterity, stooping, bending and minimal lifting.
