Job Title: Buyer – Contract Award Phase

Position Summary
The Buyer is responsible for executing purchasing activities during the contract award phase, ensuring materials and components are ordered, received, and staged to support on-time production. This role works closely with engineering, suppliers, and manufacturing to maintain cost, quality, and delivery commitments.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and issue purchase orders to approved suppliers based on costed Bills of Materials (BOMs).
Coordinate with suppliers to confirm pricing, lead times, and delivery schedules.
Actively expedite supplier deliveries as needed to support production schedules.
Receive incoming materials and verify quantities, quality, and documentation.
Organize and prepare production kits for release to the manufacturing floor.
Maintain accurate purchasing records and communicate order status to internal stakeholders.
Support continuous improvement efforts related to procurement, supplier performance, and material flow.

Qualifications

Experience in purchasing or procurement within a manufacturing environment.
Strong organizational and follow-up skills with attention to detail.
Effective communication skills when working with suppliers and internal teams.
Experience working with metal fabricators and machine shops preferred.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings; familiarity with CAD files strongly preferred but not required.
Pay rate range, $35 per hour to $40.00/hr
